One recalled that pupils were caned after singing inappropriate songs on the school bus, despite the incident taking place outside school hours.
At St Wilfrid Martineau Comprehensive School in Birmingham, one former pupil described a teacher’s particularly forceful caning technique, noting that punishment to the hands was especially painful.
Memories from Sundorne Secondary School in Shrewsbury included recollections of Mrs Leggot, whom some former pupils considered excessively harsh. One recalled being caned, along with a friend, for laughing during class.
