All the way back he kept apologising and saying how sorry he was for everything and how it had got out of hand. As we drew near my house he even had the cheek to ask me if I might consider going out with him again sometime. I just said it was unlikely, but maybe we could meet up at the coffee bar in town – at least I would feel safe there.
