As she took her time, it was awhile before Megan’s feet finally graced her property once again. She was surprised to see both her parents’ cars in the driveway. They should be at work. Megan hoped that everything was OK.
Her hope turned to doubt as she approached the house. Something was definitely not right. She saw Stephen casually kicking a soccer ball around the yard and waved to him. He would probably have a snide comment or two about the status of her diaper, but she had more important things to worry about.
“What’s going on?”
“Mom and Dad are really mad at Carrie,” he explained. His normally brattish candor seemed curiously lacking, and Megan interpreted this as a sign that things were really bad.
“What did she do?”
