One week myself and two friends were being particularly high-spirited and naughty, it was getting close to breaking up for the holidays so think we were just a bit over-excited.
We kept going out of bounds, even onto the staff car park, this was very much not allowed! One of the dinner ladies was an aunt of my friend, she kept telling us to behave and trying to engage us in acceptable activities but we were having none of it on this particular day.
Eventually and not unsurprisingly she lost patience and ordered us to face the wall and calm down.
My friend, the dinner ladys niece, did get a bit cheeky arguing that we weren’t being naughty but we duly faced the wall for about 10 seconds before my friend hissedCome onand shot off around the corner, I and my other friend didn’t even think about it we were also off with the poor dinner ladys cries of girls! ringing in our ears. We were giggling and running around the buildings (mostly out of bounds again) I knew we were being naughty but it did seem such good fun I certainly didn’t consider the consequences.
Unfortunately, I was soon to discover the consequences of being Naughty to a dinner lady. As soon as we went back to class our teacher called the three of us out front and told us in no uncertain terms she was ashamed that such badly behaved children could come from her class, clearly my friend’s aunt had reported us. We were given the slipper which certainly calmed us down and stopped the giggles!
My friend was very worried her aunt would tell her parents, the next day as a way of peace offering and an apology we made her a daisy chain necklace.
She told us she hoped we would behave ourselves now we had had a telling-off.
One of the girls walking with her that day was from our class and was quick to inform the dinner lady we had in fact been more than told off.
She looked taken aback it seemed she had not expected us to be smacked.
She informed her niece she had no intention of mentioning anything to her parents and changed the subject to talk about more pleasant things.
