When I was at junior school in the sixties there was a boy in my class who was slippered and caned far more often than any other boy.
I have seen his name in the local paper from time to time , and he has turned up once again.
He is a local councilor and has now come out in favor of the redevelopment of the old Hucknall aerodrome site and the proposal to build new houses on it.
This is the boy who famously was bending over to get the cane and the teacher couldn’t go through with it and hurled the cane across the room.
He did get quite a few canings though, probably about 5 times, and was probably slippered about 20 times, once a quite severe beating with the heel of the slipper,
Thankfully I never got the slipper or the cane from him, I just got one spanking, with a few others for making too much noise.
Not very painful but enough to make you go very red in the face.
t was only boys who were punished at my junior school,( by that teacher) and I also have no idea why that particular boy was singled out.
He wasn’t an obviously “bad boy” , but just got picked out for talking in class.
He does seem to have done alright for himself though.
He didn’t go to the same grammar school as me, but I saw him working in a fish and chip shop when we were about 15.
I did ask him if he was still getting caned all the time, but he said no and that was it.
