It was recently reported that TV presenter Richard Madeley was caned by a schoolmaster who always brought in the same female teacher (his fiance`) as a witness.
Madeley claims the female teacher enjoyed the spectacle.
I can recall reading Women’s Magazine which featured an article entitled “Meet the film star who is spanked” about Ricky on the set of “Little Lord Fauntleroy”. Apparently his mother hauled him off to his caravan and spanked him in the middle of filming one day for playing up with his sister. I hope it was in the traditional form as otherwise those thick period knickerbockers would have made his punishment ineffective!
Mark Hateley ( England Footballer, born about 1960) went to my school, and would certainly have been slippered , if not caned. The PE teacher used to make a point of slippering the best sportsmen, just to put them in their place. Mark was two years below me and lived a few doors away, so I knew him a little.
He would have moved to another school when he was 13 or 14 as his dad , also a professional footballer, was transferred. I have seen Mark in recent years , so he still has relatives locally , though his own son now plays for Motherwell.
